GREAT NEWS! Installation is complete of new playground equipment at Fighting Creek Park, and the playground is open for play! Please come out and join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 13 at 4 p.m. to dedicate the new playground equipment.

Department of Public Works seeks to provide safe and enjoyable recreation and leisure opportunities for a diverse population, increase tourism, initiate beautification projects, and promote environmental awareness. Recreation plays an important part in keeping our minds and bodies fit and active. We invite you to visit our parks, participate in our special events or recreation program soon.

The mission of the Department of Public Works is to provide accessible, attractive, enjoyable and safe park facilities and recreational activities for the County of Powhatan citizens.

-develop and administer the highest quality of diverse, safe, well-rounded community programs and facilities that enhance the quality of life of all County of Powhatan citizens while managing the County’s natural and fiscal resources.
